Blog post #1-Connecting

 The word for spring 2021 semester is "CONNECTING."

    The word connecting was giving while taking the online quiz; offered on Dr. Giles page on the Padlet website. I researched other words, however, connecting spoke to me (after research and reflections on the word). The word, connecting, is powerful based on my role as an educator to make the connection to my students learning style. Connecting stands firmly in my teaching philosophy on helping students at where he or she is at. Breaking down the information into digestible pieces. The way I establish the connection to my students is solely on my shoulders. My word will keep me engaged during the entire semester. Occasionally at times my connecting towards my academic work can be low and my spiritual journey can waver. Connecting my prayer life, bible study, and academic growth towards the top of list in 2021.

"Reading As Thinking Questions!"

 How do you see what you read, in your mind's eye? Reading opens your mind. Reading creates a movie inside of your brain that allows thoughts to flow. The first book I read that opened my mind to a entire new way of thinking. Was the "Lord Of The Rings," I must admit at first I assumed I would hate the book or whatever I was reading. However, as I continue to read. The book was so refreshing and it opened up a brand new perspective. Reading opens the minds to worlds we did not know existed. How do you respond to confusion or difficulty? I seek clarity first by asking multiple questions. My first step is to ask questions and gain as much information as possible before. I make a decision; this allows me to ensure that all of the information allows me to hear from multiple perspective. Book, Head, and Heart strategy.

       First preview of the book. I questioned if I would enjoy reading the book because of the pictures and how it referred to middle school life. My head started the questioning process on what could be happening. As I began to read and my heart and love for the book began to grow and grow. My heart strings pulled as the main character went and experienced trails and tribulations.       I learned immediately that I personally have some biases and opinions I make about things. First thing I notice was  I loved reading the book. The character development grew and developed into a positive direction.
